The whole world is mine

A few days ago I was walking the usual weekly “veggie-round” with the two dear husky ladies I have in my life, Akasha and Elsa. The “veggie – round” is a walk along the river Spaarne here in Haarlem, all the way to Heemstede and then we cross the bridge to the other side where we pick up our weekly veggie package at the eco market, working our way back home via the cute little ferry where the ladies always get dog cookies from the captain.

Strolling along – or to be honest I should say “me being tugged along” – the water, lined with high reed moving in the wind, I, for what felt like the thousandth time that morning, asked Elsa who was doing her usual over-enthusiastic pulling on the leash “why are you in such a hurry? Where are you going?”

“I am just happy”, she told me back. “The whole world is mine”.

“The whole world is mine?” I thought to myself, questioning. My first reaction was “that´s arrogant” and before I could finish that piece of judgement or even stop it from materializing into an actual thought Elsa told me;

“No, it is not like that! It has nothing to do with ownership. It is just the opposite! The whole world is mine, just as it is yours, and everyone´s. I don´t own it, you don´t own it, no one owns it – it just is mine yours, everyone´s – ain´t that great, ain´t that awesome? Just feel what it does to you when you realize that!”….
